It’s a double win for Bach Brewing and Good George, and another win for Epic Armageddon.
Bach’s Witsunday Blonde IPA takes home Champion Wheat, and its Driftwood is Champion Pale Ale.
Good George collects Champion British-style Ale for Amber, and Drop Hop cider is champ Fruit & Flavoured Cider.
Epic Armageddon repeats last year’s win as Champion IPA. New World’s Chair of Judges Michael Donaldson personally rates Armageddon as both New Zealand’s Greatest Beer and The Best Beer in New Zealand, and he believes it is the standard to judge all other IPAs against.
“When it came to selecting the Champion from our five [IPA] finalists, what stood out for the judges was the technical excellence of Epic’s Armageddon IPA. It’s now the benchmark for quality in the IPA category.”
