Peckham’s Cider has won New Zealand’s Champion Cider Trophy for the third year in a row.
Peckham’s “Wild all the Way” was awarded Champion Cider at the 2017 New Zealand Cider Awards held this month in Nelson. Peckham’s also received the Champion Cider Trophy in both 2016 and 2015.
Peckham’s Cider won 5 out of the 7 Trophies, picking up Best in Category for their Moutere Perry, Ice Cider, Kingston & Alford with honey, Sweet Serious Frenchie and Wild all the Way.
Peckham’s demonstrated quality across their range, picking up 6 Golds, 9 Silvers and 3 Bronzes. Peckham’s make vintage ciders from tree ripened heritage cider apples grown in the Moutere. The cidery and orchard is run by husband and wife team Alex and Caroline Peckham, who are passionate about real cider, and use farm pressed juice from cider apples to make their small batch blends. The couple produced their first cider in 2010.
The New Zealand Cider Awards are the only national Awards dedicated to cider, and entries are judged against international criteria by a panel of cider judges who have extensive expertise in the field. This year’s Awards attracted more entries and at a higher standard than ever before.
