Deep Creek Brewing picked up the Champion Small International Brewery Trophy at the AIBA Awards last night.
The North Auckland brewery was the only New Zealand Champion Trophy winner.
The Australian International Beer Awards describes itself as the “largest annual beer competition in the world”, and attracted 2042 entries in this, its 25th year.
Bach Brewing also brings home the Major Trophy for Best Scotch Ale/Barley Wine for Seamaster Imperial Ale.
The Major Trophy for Best Australian Style Lager went to Storm Super Dry, brewed by “Aldi Stores (Minchinbury), Auckland, New Zealand”. Go figure.
Kiwi gold medal winners included Deep Creek, Bach, Epic (yup, Armageddon), Founders, Galbraiths, Lakeman, Black Dog, Sunshine, Mikes, Craftwork, Kereru, and Boundary Rd for packaging.
